How to get a Discord server tag

Server tags (also called guild tags) let your members proudly display your community's badge across Discord. Here's exactly how to unlock and set one up.

  1. 1

    Meet the server requirements

Server tags roll out to communities that meet Discord's eligibility bar — typically a Level 3 boosted server with an active member base. Keep your community engaged and boosted to unlock the feature.

  2. 2

Open Server Settings → Server Tag

Once eligible, a new 'Server Tag' section appears in your Server Settings. Only the server owner and admins with the Manage Server permission can configure it.

  3. 3

    Choose your tag text

Pick a short tag — usually up to four characters. This is the text members will display next to their name, so make it recognisable (e.g. your community's initials).

  4. 4

    Pick a badge

Select the icon that represents your tag: crown, cat, heart, fire, sword and many more. The badge shows up beside the tag text everywhere your members go.

  5. 5

    Publish and share

Save your tag, then have members equip it from their profile. Once live, submit your server here so people searching for that badge can discover your community.
